What to See and Do


A visit to the Fort provides a full day out for the family. Not only does the Fort provide an interesting insight to the History of the area, the Defense of London thought the ages and fine exhibits of Militaria and Aviation, being set amongst some of the finest parkland in the area the complex also provides the ideal setting for family picnics, riverside walks and nature loving enthusiasts.
From the roof area some quite magnificent views across the River Thames.
A Riverside walk in either direction provides a relaxing easy stroll, where you can see an abundance of wildlife in natural habitats and close up views of the varied 'river traffic' both commercial and recreational that goes along the Thames each day.
The parkland provides a safe environment for children to play, complete with an adventure play area. A superb location for a family picnic, or simply somewhere to sit, relax and while away the day.

The Fort itself provides:

Guided Tours of restricted areas.
A Museum of Militaria
An Aviation Museum, that includes many rare items recovered from excavations in the area
A Naval exhibition
Displays of Military Vehicles and Weapons (Please note: not all Military Vehicles may be on display on each visit as they are taken to various Military Events and Shows nationwide)
Tea Room (serving Light refreshments) & Shop
